day3 - ride to livorno

Ohhh I slept very well the first day in the van …. it was a bit cold but lucky me (and thanx to the advice from barbar) i took both blankets a warm and a not so warm with me :-)

I woke up very very early in the morning …. ok i went to bed at around 21:00 … haha so enough sleep for me to wake up before 06:00 … and guess what … I straight went into coffee “construction mode” and crafted a wonderful latte machiatto with beautiful milk foam

Later on I was hanging around enjoying the fact that I am travelling alone and no one wants something from me …. slept one more hour and then refilled my water tank and packed together myself in order to start my ride towards the ferry in livorno.

Highway to Livorno was a bit crowded around Milano (actually there were some small traffic jams) but everything went smoothly and shortly before reaching Livorno I saw a sign which said “PISA” …. time to do a spontanous exit and looking for the leaned tower of Pisa ;-)

Went for a tourist walk to the tower - and OK this guy is really “schief” - and found a small restaurant where I ate gorgeous bruscetta and ravioli con gorngonzola ! Awesome …. and the best was that there were so few people around …. I just can imagine how crowed it must be during main season…..

Back on the road and following the navi instruction towards livorno port and grimaldi ferries …. I must admit I am glad to have google maps which is so accurate in showing me the way … and so I managed to be at the port 2 hours too early before boarding :-) Time for a beer at the port !

Waited for roughly 2 hours before the “car tetris” started …. boarding and check-in also went smoothly as I had all the required papers, confirmations, tests, etc with me ;-) Time to explore the huge ship and look for my cabin… and I must admit it was a very clean and nice cabin with a bed where even I as a 2 meter tall guy fit … awesome even with a window !

And as I mentioned the ship was really really huge … with 11 floors and shops and restaurants and bars and even a swimming pool on deck…. like a cruise ship lol … So I walked around, had another beer in the ship bar and then watched the truck tetris happening in the back of the ship … unbelievable how many cars and trucks they cramped into the ship ….and after the ship departed forom livorno it was already 23:00 I went to sleep as the whole ride took around 10 hours …. see you tomorrow
