day10 - excursion to isola la asinara

So buon giorno ! Have slept very well … temperature is ideal in the night :-) Time to make a coffee and pack again everything together … oh yes it becomes a habit to live like a gipsy … and it feels great … nearly every day a new setting and scenery ! Today I will drive to Stintino and try to catch an excursion boat towards Asinara island. I hope they are already in service in preseason times like this.

Stintino, which is in the very north of the island was reached after 1 hour drive and is a really nice little village with a small port. Had some coffee in the morning sun and then tried to find some excursion boat … it was 09:00 in the morning and indeed there were 8 people sitting in front of a small fisher boat …. I asked whether they were waiting for a tour … and voila .. the crew checked me in … very spontanous without having anything except my camera I was sitting on the boat

And it turned out that it really was a serious fisher boat and the crew spent 2 hours crusing around and fished with curbs for seafood … what was intended to be cooked and eaten by us in the afternoon. And they really caught a lot of interesting and even scary stuff :-)

You could see it in the eyes of another tour member :-) she was scared by all the different animals they pulled out … especially from the muranes and sea devils!

At midday we arrived at Asinara and we had 1 and a half hour to exore the island and to find some of the famous white donkeys there. It was already quite hot and I just had to walk for 10 minutes until I detected the first group of donkeys standing loveless in the shadow of one of the buildings there … and some of them really were shiny white … cute !!!

Also visited an institution who rescues sea turtles which are injured … very interesting to see two of them in real life … and then I already had to go back to our boat … we steered towards a beautiful bay with turquoise water and we were supposed to swim here a bit … but I unfortunately had no bath suit with me … so I just watched the others to jump into the sea :-)

In the meantime 5he crew cooked fresh seafood pasta and salad du polpo … and they served it after the swimming session. It tasted awesome and also the sweets, the wine and the special self burnt Sardinian grappa was awesome. I actually had looooots of Schnaps with an Italian couple I talked with a lot… so it became a “wet happy” trip … :-)

And around 17:30 we arrived back in Stintino and I paid happily the 75 EUR for the whole day all-in. And they recommended to stay overnight at spuagga la pelusa … what I did … parked my car on a parking space and felt asleep soon despite the karaoke discothek which was very close …
